I am praying that the Opposition continues boycotting the ELECTIONS
organised by IEC on the simple reason that it continues to expose APRC
"internal civil war". Please read the latest between Famadi Bojang and
Bakary Jaiteh

Assembly Member Exchanges Blows With Assistant Commissioner

The Independent (Banjul)

Banjul

Impeccable sources close to the Commissioner's office in Brikama recently
intimated to The Independent that a serious fight broke out last Monday
between the assistant Commissioner Bakary Jaiteh and honourable Famadi
Bojang the National Assembly member for Kombo Central.

The two men exchanged blows in the assistant Commissioner's office after a
major disagreement. Sources said they were separated by the police but only
after assistant Commissioner Bakary Jaiteh had hit Honourable Bojang with
his telephone.

When contacted the assistant Commissioner confirmed the incident. He told
The Independent that a group of APRC militants from the Nyambia ward had
paid a courtesy call on him at his office and soon after they had left
Honourable Bojang came in and told him not to have any business with the
departed group. According to the assistant Commissioner the politician had
mentioned one Pa Sainey Badjie who intended to contest in the
councillorship election under ARPC ticket as creating problems for him.

'He - Famadi created problems for himself because Pa Sainey was selected at
an interview conducted between him and one Lamin Bojang for the
councillorship election but Honourable Famadi changed everything by
dropping Pa Sainey Badjie and choosing Lamin Bojang despite him being
dropped by the committee of four during the interview' explained Bakary
Jaiteh. He said Honourable Bojang had protested to him that nobody should
know about what happened and how Pa Sainey was dropped. However he said he
could not accept Famadi's terms because he saw no wrong in treating every
APRC militant with the same respect reserved for every one else.

'I made it plain to him that I would favour nobody above the rest' he
explained. According to him a fight soon ensued after Famadi insulted his
mother and challenged him for a fight. 'I hit him with my telephone set' he
said.

Although Honourable Famadi Bojang could not be reached his escort to the
assistant Commissioner's office Lamin Kullo Jatta said it was Bakary Jaiteh
who had been aggressive, insulting the politician's mother and hitting him
with his telephone. He said Famadi had gone there to discuss some issues,
which left the assistant Commissioner angry and could not control himself.

Lamin said it could have taken a different turn if Honourable Bojang had
hit back.

'It was foolish of the police officer and Ebrima Jammeh to treat honourable
Famadi like a bandit despite his status as a National Assembly member. I
even wanted to react to the police but Honourable Bojang pleaded with me
for restraint' he explained.

Some staff at the Commissioner's office did not hide their disappointment
over the incident involving two well-respected members of the community.
