Thanks for reminding us about this day. The women of our country need to be
recognized and saluted for literally being the backbone of the country. We
all know how hard women work back home. It was not uncommon for us to see
mothers with son or daughter firmly strapped on their backs while either
working on the farm or out somewhere to carry out tasks. Rearing up the
child and literally propping up the household is no easy task.

On another front, I am very interested in finding out the progress women's'
groups are making in their campaigns to uplift women back home? I know the
some movements have met both religious and bureaucratic resistance in recent
times.

One thing is for sure, the development of our women is akin to the
development of The Gambia and I hope the powers that be recognize this fact.

Saiks, I join you in saluting this day.

-Yus
