I'm watching my back. See ya on Friday.
This is part of a private mail sent to me by one of my pals in Jollof.
-----------------------
the order of the day in town is: "KUNEH MBAAM DUUL" meaning, don't dare
criticize the overseer military regime or, bite the hand that feeds
you...dare speak your minfd and you're out/targeted. Bro, as I play the low
profile game by day, most Gambians my age display advanced aging, frail,
fear, cowardice, stressed with either-or BP/Diabetese, cos' of the evil and
shallowmindedness of this brutish regime. My next door neighbor was fired
from his job last, cos' he was manly enough to debate his boss, while on an
overland trip upcountry, regarding Halifa Sallah's victory in Serekunda. This
Gestapo tactic of snitching or lying against coworkers/neighbors to survive
or get promoted, is the scary and sad part of Gambia today. Friends,
coworkers, families are inhibiting and breeding the deadly cancerous tumor [
lack of trust of anyone within] with fake smiles, turning born-again
worshipers, supporting the APRC line of thinking in public, in private, hate
everything APRC and Jammeh. This perpetual state of fear, is causing long
term psychlogical problems and early death, for a lot of young folks, hence
the reason why, 35-45 year olds, feels better leaving the country for strange
pastures overseas. Look around big cities in the USA and Europe, mid-age
Africans, engaing in survival jobs...security, restaurants, cleaning, etc.
The con-game being played by Jammeh on the intended pilgrims to Mecca, is
beyond comprehension. I tried hard enough to control my tears, seeing elderly
country folks, crying, pleaing for Jammeh, to solve their miserable plight of
this Hajj debacle , STINKING CORRUPTION, AT BEST.
Your old boss, SM Dibba, is casting a die for himself, by overshadowing
jammeh in the popularity contest..MADE FOR TV POLITICS
Just another point of view as to how one sees things in Gambia...inside-out
or upside-down. You choose.
