PG and Malik Kah,

You know sometimes I really pity those who choose a public career in
the Gambia...because their followers can easily turn them into
monsters. I offered a constructive look at Halifa Sallah as the only
person capable of a moral leadership in the Gambia. I urged that he
not squander his moral capital on mediocre politics in a horse-shoe
parliament of supine nonentities. Is this an insult on his
character? You see this is the kind of subversive nihilism that
renders self-destruction to an angry man without a cause... it is
absurd to the point of childishness.

Halifa is not beyond reproach...Lord knows he has foibles: He has a
temper, and can't get to develop a thick skin. However, I have no
doubt in my mind that he is a sincere and honest man. His calling is
way beyond politics, and it is about time someone tell him to step to
the plate. He is not a politician but a statesman, and so was Martin
L. King Jnr., and I believe he has much more to offer in securing
justice than parliamentary politics.

You are right Mr. Gomez, Halifa is not selfish. I was there when he
rejected offers from Jammeh. His principled decision is a glaring
example in sharp contrast with the Alagies, Ajaratou's and
"intellectuals" who pawned their souls to the devil, and succumbed to
treacherous machinations of the butcher of Kanilai without any
conscience.

Messrs Kah and Gomez, I am here to praise Halifa and not bring him
down. You all are fighting the wrong man.

E.
