Joe,

I am still in disbelief over this matter. When I was apprised of their
intentions around the time of Yaya's trip here, I chucked it to scare
tactics to keep us from demonstrating. The fact that it has gained some
mileage and from country representatives, no less, is just unbelievable.
That we have a leadership that would sanction such acts, knowing full well
the reasons why people are leaving Gambia in droves, knowing fully well, the
impoverished conditions that people are living under and that the token sums
we send help alleviate this suffering a bit, leaves a bile taste in my
mouth. And remember, only a handful of families have children "hustling"
out here in order to help themselves and their families. What about the
suffering and impoverishment of the not-so-fortunate? If I sound
incoherent, please excuse me, my heart cries.

Thank you for speaking to Tijan in a language that he and his handlers
understand but I was hoping that these were rumors, not actions that Lena
and Tijan intended to engage in. This is the apex of "sohorr"!!! Until his
diplomatic status, Tijan was one of us, or those he now wants to report.
The lengths people will go to, destroying another human being for the sake
of what they themselves cannot even articulate. Why?

Soffie

Malamin, thanks for your observations. However, in this climate we are in
one will not be given a second chance to go to Canada. You will either
languish in some detension camp for months or deported straight home.
Currently, folks who overstay their visas are being nabbed at Greyhound bus
stations by the INS. Instead of waiting until one is nabbed, why don't we
nib this threat thing in the bud. I did just that and an agreement was
reached to cease and desist. That is the language they needed to hear, not
cuddling. Keep up the good work.

Chi Jaama
