Sister Ndey and All,

Cheers to you all for participating in the debate within the Norwegian
African diaspora.

I took up this HardTalk interview as it reflects responses of international
bureaucrats to the issues we raised on the L earlier on. It was perhaps not
just a coincidence that Stephen Sackur took issue with Emma Bonino on
account of the Italian government's subsidies to their tomato farmers.
But the interview is now available online and anyone with Realplayer
installed can watch it. Perhaps we can continue our reflections on some of
the questions raised in the interview: an example is the EU's policy of
putting up political conditions on aid while its subsidies undermine the
very economic foundations upon which democratic processes in Africa must be
built.

*Stephen Sackur talks to Donald Kaberuka, President, African Development
Bank; Emma Bonino, Italian Trade Minister and Mark Malloch Brown, UN Deputy
Secretary General].*
