Halifa,
never at any point during the military take-over was I euphoric about the
changes, as you've alleged in your posting to Saul. Rather, I welcomed it
with cautious optimism [which was understandable then for an 18 yr. old fresh
faced unemployed high school graduate disillusioned with the then status
quo], which began to metamorphosed into cautious pessimism after the 11th.
November bloodshed and eventually hardened pessimism of the intellect after
Koro's tragic end in June 1995. After Jammeh did his scam and supposedly won
the 1996 elections, i could only detest the situation and what it represents.
by the way, have you ceased to pause to tell members that you have also never
condemned the coup unequivocally and only welcomed it with cautious optimism
[pessimism?], which gradually softened into grudgingly accepting the status
quo then as a historical inevitability and hence proceeded to self proclaim
yourselves informal advisers on the way ahead.
Hope you will note that for the record.
Have a good day.
