Folks,
Its been a while since a registry of Gambians in the diaspora was first suggested. A global registry of Gambians will be a great resource for all. It will help in many ways including, locating one another and networking. I am suggesting we start the process.

It is understandable that some people would not like personal data i.e. home address and telephone number be made public but providing things like workplace and email address can be useful. I think every effort should be made to grant the level of confidentiality many would desire.

For a start I am suggesting that we form a group to brainstorm about how to go about this registry, the level of detail and it's implementation. Current technology will enable us to develop an interactive searchable online register where people can add names, search names by name, profession, place of residence or other criteria. It is also possible to limit access to the database to only subscribed members or public. Similarly the database can be configured to forward all third party request about member addresses to a database administrator who will first seek member permission before making information on them available.

I am looking for energetic volunteers who can spend time on the design , collect data and implementation of the register.
If you are interested please send me a private mail.
