Yahya,

I do not want to be drawn into the merits or demerits of Bilal as do not
know or claim to know his background, origins or role.

However , aren't you being a mite too presumptous in " guessing " that
Peter is a non-muslim.

Secondly I thought we were all, together with the Jews, people of the
Book. You are perfectly within your moral and religous rights to claim the
Holy Book, the Quuaran as the only road to true salvation and delivery. I
daresay the non-muslims on the list have an equal right to take a similar
stance on the fundamental uniqueness of the Bible/ Torah, depending on
what side of the equation they fall.Empirical evidence seems to suggest
that they have been prudently and studiously silent on such issues.
I have yet to see any non-muslim on g-l comment or make any
misleading statement on Islamic issues and positions being discussed on
the net. This points to a fundamental respect for opinions and beliefs other
than our own.

Gambia is secular and so should it remain in-country and externally, with
the traditional cross religous tolerance that has endured historically. In fact
Gambia and gambians co-existed before the arrival of either of the
institutionalized religions.

To even guess that only a non-muslim would make comments such as
Peter's, is I think a poor reflection of the esteem with which you must
hold fellow gambians who do not share the same faith as yourself, yet
worship the one, true God.Whatever their private views about the
continuous Islamic postings and proselyting, they have been impeccably
behaved by not butting into what is not their business or problem.
