Beran, I do not mean to be curt with you, but I have to be frank and point
out that to me it is an oxymoron to say that: ‘PPP was banned at the time
but they existed’.  Who is ‘they’?  If by that you mean former PPP
stalwarts, then you are basically reiterating the point I have been making
all along.  That is to say that when the former Parties were banned, their
supporters moved on to the new Parties (APRC, UDP and NRP) and supported
them both financially and otherwise.  The point goes further to argue that
since you are not holding this kind of support of APRC against APRC, why
should you hold such support against UDP.

If on the other hand, you meant that PPP (qua Party) still existed two years
after it was banned, then I am afraid you need more to convince me that some
vague hearsay statements attributed to OJ. For instance show me some bank
accounts that still operated under the PPP name. Far from a PPP that was
operating clandestinely before the ‘lifting’ of Decree 89, what we had
(‘jaharang’) were former PPP ministers either openly joining and supporting
APRC or staying away from politics.  In the former category you had the Nafa
Sahos and the Buba Baldehs of the former PPP and in the latter category you
had the Ojs and the Omar Seys of the former PPP.  How people can ignore
these blatant facts and instead dwell on rumors, speculation and hearsay is
totally beyond me.
