UDP/NRP Alliance Youth Team Ambushed:

As the Presidential Election Campaign has kick off, the United Democratic Party / National Reconciliation Party (UDP/NRP) Youth wing is engaged on a nation wide grass roots campaign to give support to the five Divisional campaign teams comprising of Area Chairmen, Area Chairwomen, and Divisional youth movements on their various localities.

Unfortunately, today Saturday, August 12, 2006, they were coming from the Niaminas Constituencies and entering the Fulladus Constituencies when they got ambushed by some (APRC) thugs. These thugs were in an unnumbered green pick-up truck and one Mr. Manlafi, an ex-presidential guard pulled an AK 47 rifle and threatens to shoot at any body who utter a word about President Jammeh. Some youths rushed to grab his gun and in an attempt to burn the vehicle they rushed away. Luckily, Manlafi was identified by some members of the (UDP/NRP) Youth team. Manlafi statement were recorded and the matter was reported to the Brikamaba Police Station who declined to take the complain.

The Youth team told the Brikamaba police that they will neither allow their Rights to be muzzled nor allow negotiating their Rights in the legitimate exercise of their political and constitutional Rights. This Election is the final Election with Jammeh they said.

On Monday, look for the Press Release from the UDP/ NRP Alliance Bureau in Banjul.

  Thank You.
