Mr. Darboe:

The issue of tribalism has to be discussed freely in The Gambia. We cannot
side-step this important issue because it is the ugliest of the ugliest. Ever
since Independence, most politicians have shied away from discussing
this important topic.

There is no way we can move forward when indifferences are exhibited
continuously. So is it proper to say: "We would rather have Jammeh than
a Mandinka president." Does this mean that a dictator is better than all
Mandinkas? This is an abomination. It should be condemned.

Naphiyo,
Comrade Jassey-Conteh

>I wish to advice that while it is productive to vehemently take part in tetchy debates, it is even more prudent to stop debating when no learning is taking place. It is a pity that the relevant topic of the future of our country could not be discussed in other than this vile trade of insults.

>When a discussion of a national character is reduced to the venting of personal sentiments rather than convincing factual arguments, people get angry, frustrated and at best alienated. Hitherto to the hurling of insults, I have enjoyed your postings, as I find Bambalaye and Jassey sharing valuable information about politics in The Gambia.
>
>I would beg kindly that we all discuss with respect for all views, for that truly is the bottom line in any democratic environment. Democracy indeed is not only a system of government, it is a way of life'. Certainly we cannot for once abandon discussing our country, but kindly let`s muster the courage to listen to even the "most insane person" without reproach, with a right of reply to such insanity, at least to educate and save others from perilous misinformation...
