MOVEMENT FOR THE RESTORATIONOF DEMOCRACY
IN THE GAMBIA (UK) Email: [log in to unmask]

The Gambian community in the United Kingdom, mindful of the deteriorating
political, social and economic conditions in the Gambia, which could lead to a
state of anarchy or ungovernability, has formed a coherent body to arrest this
trend.

The Movement is a non-partisan organisation that values the contribution of all,
irrespective of political affiliation or support.
The Movement aims to harness the support of all Gambians and other well wishers
to bring about a democratic and peaceful climate in The Gambia where fundamental
human rights and the rule of law are jealously guarded.

The Movement will like to appeal to our fellow Gambians to reflect on the
current state of events in The Gambia which has affected every area of our civil
society and to recognise that nobody is isolated from the prevailing situation.

There comes a time in the history of a nation when our collective aspirations,
ambitions, hopes and expectations, have to be protected from the ravages of
terror, of deliberate sabotage and blatant greed. This is the time, and we call
on one and all to join in the fight for the restoration of legitimacy and
legality.

It has become clear to all of us, that there cannot be any socio-economic
development in an atmosphere of fear, uncertainty and mistrust. It is therefore
our duty as patriotic Gambians to challenge the present order and nip it at the
bud.

We should all be conscious of the fact that our beloved Country is not immune to
the sad and terrible happenings that has afflicted other countries within our
sub-region. These have been brought about by dictatorship, bad governance and
the denial of basic rights. This is the present dispensaton in The Gambia.
