Suntou,
The last I checked we have over 128 sites listed by the National Council 
for Arts and Culture as trading posts,  historic and cultural sites. Not 
listed are hundreds or perhaps thousands of places sacred to those 
communities that claim them.
Important to mention is that majority of Gambia's ruling class/landlords 
and perhaps the citizenry were not Muslims at around 1800. But like any 
human civilization everywhere, they created or preserve sacred places of 
worship.   Perhaps our task should be to learn about who established 
them and why.
