A notable Gambian:

Alhaji Amadou Jallow, commomnly known as ASM Jallow, a renowned road builder
during the colonial days and during the second world war. Built the roads
from Kartong to Koina, the light house, the famous Pipeline Road (or Kairaba
Avenue), and many others.
