Great News and thanks for sharing it! I am not surprised as I know Beatrice`s candour and passion. I have had the honour of working with her in many spheres, but principally she sat in some of my Development Studies classes at the University of The Gambia...And even then, I have wondered whether I was offering her anything new, knowing her experience, from the UN to the Chamber of Commerce.

I will call her to give her my personal congratulations, but I cannot let the opportunity to do so on the L pass like that.

CONGRATULATIONS & MABRUK BEATRICE...This is pride first for women and then The Gambia and Africa!

Subject: FWD: From Asbjørn Nordam - Ms Beatrice Allen member of IOC

The following message is from Mr. Asbjørn Nordam of the Danish Sports
Federation.
------------------------------------

Ms. Beatrice Allen, Vice-President of the Gambia National Olympic
Committee, is today at the 118th Internation Olympic Committee Session
voted as a new IOC- member. She will serve a mandate of eight years. Now 14
of IOCs 115 members is female.
I congratulate The Gambia and specially Ms. Beatrice Allen, who I had the
honour to meet recently at an International IOC/UNEP conference in Nairobi.
I am very impressed by Ms. Allens very strong speech on "Gender empowerment
and sport" , how to give girls and women a platform through sports.

Regards from Asbjørn
