Jammeh's project have been foiled, thanks to the people of Serrekunda East
and Wuli west. The election of Halifa and Sidia is the spectre of light in
the cloud of darkness that hovers in our political scene. It might be true
that they constitute a minority as would have been the case any way even had
the UDP particiapted, but the significant thing these two bring with them is
the ability to expose any legislation that runs au contraire to the intrest
of the people.
Then it would be left to the people to judge for themselves, if those
elected are serving them or not. It is obvious that Sidia and Halifa may
not be able to overturn any legislation the APRC may want to pass but they
can be very critical in their observations. This is all we ask of them. Any
other opposition would not have done no more, for it is obvious that the
APRC was heading for a majority.
I hope we will give them our support, knowing fully well that the task
before them is immense.
The fact that Jammeh has made a chilling admission, that he wants a ONE
PARTY state, should make us all be aware and work tirelessly to thwart such
a monsterous project.
The fact that prominent UDP Yai compens are now queuing to join the APRC in
drones should make us more vigilant or else we will lose the plot and enable
Jammeh to realise his ultimate ambition.
Congratulations Halifa Sidia and Hamat Bah, we know you will serve not only
your constituencies but the entire Gambian nation. I wish you all the best.
