TWO NEW GENERATORS FOR NAWEC.

When the Lord said let there be light few believed that this solemn command
will be defied by our various utility companies. We’ve lived in perpetual
darkness for the best part of two decades. Well it seems that things are to
change for the better.

It has been announced that 2 new 6.5 Megawaatt generators are on their way
to the Gambia and these will be commissioned during July. An order for
another new generator will be placed in October of this year.

NEW SOLAR PANEL FACTORY.

The Italian government is to help provide a $5 million (D80 million) solar
energy appliance factory in the Gambia.

This was reveled by the Gambia’s Consul-General in Italy, Francesco
Cristina, after a meeting with president Yahya Jammeh at state house last
Friday. Dr Cristina told reporters that his visit was a follow-up to an
earlier one to discuss the solar energy project. The project is to be
financed by the Italian government and the United Nations Industrial
Development Organization (UNIDO) and the production of solar panels for sale
in the country and beyond is expected to begin towards the end of the
year.Who says the Lord’s command can be denied the Gambian people
indefinitely?
