Scorpions International Support Federation

Introduction
In the last decade Gambians and friends of the Gambia have experienced a
great leap in the development of sorts among Gambians both at home and
abroad. As a testimony to this fact is the winning by the U17 football of
the Africa tournament and the forthcoming hosting of the U17 tournament in
the Gambia in 2005.

There is at the same time a considerable increase of individual Gambians
playing as professionals in the international arena.

The senior football team has also reached the finals of the last Zone 2
Amilcar Cabral Cup and is now aiming to participate to the level of the
African Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

With the currents of the economies of the African Nations it is only the
extra and conscious participation of the people that can develop the
standard of the National teams.

The Scorpions International Support Federation was created after
observations of the deficiencies and potentials of the Gambian national
teams and consultations among Gambians at home and abroad with intention to
cooperate and participate in the development of the teams and Gambian
players.

Aims and objectives
- To create an international, independent, non-partisan and incorruptible
network for the support and development to the Gambian national teams in
e.g. Football, Basketball, volleyball etc.
· To give financial and moral support to the Gambian National Teams To
assist in the scouting of players, trainers and other participants for the
national teams.

national teams.
· Stimulate, organize, inform and mobilize people to participate in the
development of the Gambian national teams.
· Create a forum and an international solidarity network amongst Gambians
and friends of the Gambia for the Gambian national teams.
· Solicit and produce materials to be used by the Gambian national teams and
their organizers.

Structure
- The creation of Scorpions Support Clubs at the local level e.g. villages,
town
      neighborhoods, workplaces nationally and internationally.
- National committees to coordinate the efforts of the local committees.
- Regional committees e.g. Europe America, Asia and Africa.
- Headquarters in Banjul, Atlanta and Stockholm.
- Organizing committees and coordinators are elected at all levels.

- Fundraising and seeking of donations in form of jerseys, shoes, balls,
training equipments, films, books etc.
- Participate in the organization of tournaments in order to make player
scouting easier and more effective.
- Encourage the creation of teams in the different disciplines.
- Assist in the seeking of contracts for potential international players.
- Run a homepage, and publishing brochures informing on events and
personalities relating to the Gambian national teams.
- Organization of workshops and seminars relating to the Gambian national
teams and to the development of sports in the Gambia and among Gambians.

Membership
All those who adopt the aims and objectives of the federation can be

there is no local branch, the interested person can consult the national or
regional committee in order to start a local branch with minimum three
members or be a member of the nearest local branch.
