As Sang Ndong's contract ends Will GFA appoint a foreign coach?
Sources close to the GFA have informed Independent sports that the association is planning to appoint a foreign coach, after Sang Ndong's contract ended in November. Speaking to this reporter, an insider at the GFA described appointing a foreign coach to oversee the national team as a very unwise move. 'Why employ a foreign coach who will be paid a lot of money when even the players find it difficult to receive their allowances?' he queried, adding that even the Under 17 and 20 squads have not received their payments for a long time.

A foreign coach is not the answer. What we need is someone who knows our football inside out and that is a local coach" the insider pointed out. He also blamed the GFA executive for approaching President Jammeh late for a chartered plane for the Scorpions trip to the recently ended Zone II in Mali. "They waited two days prior to their leaving for Mali. Unfortunately, the president could not see them. Instead, we had to go to Mali on transit in our own sub-region" he pointed out.

When contacted over the issues the GFA secretary general, Jammeh Bojang denied a foreign coach is to be appointed. "That is not to my knowledge" he said. Asked why they chose to see the president late in the day for a chartered plane to the Zone II in Mali, Bojang said, 'that was just an occasion for an appeal, nothing more".
