"African Davos" to be held in Dakar in September

DAKAR, March 4 (AFP) - Senegal will host "economic meetings for Africa"
in
early September bringing together hundreds of businessmen and intellectuals
to
ponder the development of the continent, President Abdoulaye Wade announced
late Saturday.
"It will be the Davos of Africa," he told journalists referring to the
world economic forum held each year in the Swiss resort of Davos and
attended
by scientists, industrialists, political leaders and opinion makers.
Wade, who was accompanied by French Liberal Democrat leader Alain
Madelin,
said their "joint project" would bring together "300 businessmen from the
Francophone and Anglophone developed world" and would enable "direct
discussions with the investors" to take place.
"Africa must be made a continent that attracts investors," Wade said.
