Many pro-jammeh describe Jawara's era as a cosmetic
democracy but I think to any sober person knows that
it is better than 'militocracy'- military turn
civilian dictatorship of the butcher bird. The July
1994 slogans of accountability, transparency and
probity, soldiers with a difference etc are the
biggest myth in the political history of our country.
To suffice these, there is still no constitutional
limitation to the term of the presidency which he
promise the populace. Corruption is epidemic in the
country like AIDS and HIV infection in Africa. Where
is the Gambia's missing millions that was reported in
1996 edition of London-Based Pan-African Magazine-New
Africa?The recent infrastructural developments in
Kanillai and Dobong is a clear manifestation that
Yahya Jemekura Jammeh is richer than the State.
Crimilization of the state is the other of the day.As
Thomas Sankara stated a soldier without political
education is nothing order than a criminal. It is only
history that will document the crimes of Jammeh and
his cohort.Lunatic often say he is developing the
country. What development? Any development which is not
people-centered is un stainable.Development is
co-related with basic fundamental rights and freedom.
