KEBBA FOON FIRES BACK-HE SAYS HAS NO REGRETS!!!!
Save The Gambia Democracy and Development Project STGDP’S Kebba Foon says he has no regrets whatsoever for saying that the main opposition United Democratic Party led by Ousainou Darboe, has been playing tribal politics in The Gambia. Foon who is engulfed in a tribal controversy statement amidist a protest letter issued by STGDP disassociating itself from Foon’s utterances in reaction charged that both the ruling APRC and the UDP had been playing tribal politics cards.
“The politics of tribalism has been pushed by the politicians. Darboe has been playing tribal cards and as such he cannot win elections. Both the APRC and the UDP are playing tribal cards. The people who are reacting to my statement took all my statement out of context. .What I was doing was just making an observation. If somebody makes an observations that does not necessarily means that that is the person ‘s feelings.”said the Foon who spoke in an interview with the Freedom Newspaper on the line to Atlanta, Georgia.
Foon, who has been in the limelight in recent days is far from retracting his statement saying “ I have no regrets whatsoever, about what I said about Darboe and UDP on tribal politics. The only regret that I have is my choice of words and I apologize for using the wrong word and coming across the wrong way. I’m not a tribalist and this is manifested by the fact that people making noise don’t know the tribe I belonged to. A tribalist is somebody according to the English dictionary who upholds and promote his own group or tribe. Now Gambians tell me who is the tribalist?
Foon maintains that his online statements” mere observations.“ He went further to add “the only thing I regretted is my choice of words, but the observations stands. The Gambians should ask themselves how APRC and Jammeh wins elections in The Gambia. The main oppositon UDP led by Ousainou Darboe has been playing tribal cards and unfortunately, the APRC party has been beating them in their own game. So now what we need to advocate in The Gambia is nationalism.”
Mr.Foon says he is not a tribalist and he Foon will never discuss my linage because I think it is irrelevant.. I’m a Pan Aricanist first and a nationalist. I don’t believe in tribalism. I believe in democracy, justice and the rule of law and this is what I have been fighting for, for the past three years and I will continue fighting for it.”
