A sincere reply to :"The sportings authorities back hope are responsible
for some of the failures." Quoating Abdou.Kabir Njie..

Buhari well done !

My take on this
We need new people in these inner -circle clubs. Th GAAA is a club.Since
the70's we have the same faces there. It is like a religion. We can make
use of their wisdom in a different and a more positive way. From 1970 to
2004 is a very long time indeed. Most sporting and charitable, cultural
and non-government organisations are run like club.Only members will
EVER have a chance.

Talent
I can see clearly now!.So Jasyumah Ndure trains in Norway. Now I see why
Jasumah ran so professional. At 50 meters he was ahead to an inch head
of Kim Collins. Here is a world champion 50 meters runner. He can be a
millionier. He is well trained. He started well, look down, pick up well
and straight to the tape relax.,a pefrect posture.I was wondering how he
could moved to better training fields in The US or in Europe, I only
hope that The Gambia will do all she can that Norway will not take him
from us. We have to build on this guy.He is a world class and you need
to invest in him and he can bring The Gambia fame and fortune.

Adama will set- up from the Olympics
Adama will have a supreme lift from these games and from the
journalistic reviews rave, and foresight she can step up and increase
her rate of traning and engaged in an on -going lessons and training in
The Gambia. You need new budget for this. There are also not many
sporting clubs and not too many competitions back home. Adama may be
better off living outside the country in a college somewhere or being a
schoolsport teacher in The Gambia with an income and run a training club
(subsidised) which affiliate to the GAAA (The Gambia Amature Athletics
Associatuon). She was on TV ,they know her.She is the perfect role
model. She needs to be to a connected to a coach and connected in her
daily life with the sport

The Gambia Athletics Amature Association
The GAAA must be reviewed. It has been a club for too long as in many
departments of our country. It is run like a club. The same with the
U-17 football team soon they will start to crack because the people in
charge of promoting and marketing them do not know how it works on the
international stage and how much it cost to get it right and how to
attract that financial projection. This level of manufacturing superstars
is a know how based on connections with fellow professionals around the
world. The Gambian been-tos power hungry professionals rule all our
institutions. ( I don't mean an Teachers and the humble wise They like
an Englishman and do not do agressive marketing or make deals. He is a
salary man..They also don't need the public relations. Every minister is
a king. You cannot introduce them to anyone important. It is a treat to
their ego..They don't need the sponsors. What is Nike? Tell Mr. Bill
Gates that I am the son of Mansa Musa with a grim Face. They know too
well what money comes from these international organisations and
chairmanship and board membership is in the family. There is Maffia in
our sporting and cultural institutions, There are our only connecrion to
free foreign money. They do not operate or exyst well because it is a
money pot hole. This is why these areas will never excall .Power is
handed over from Club member to club member like a relay baton.

The government and competitions
Most African leader and authorities are inscured with their Education
and exposure. They don't like sports and music. They studied English,
History and Geography also Fox trot. They will rather die than to be down
to earth. The Gambia government has appointed Samba Faal in place as
Ministerof sports. He is remembered as a great sportsman simply because
of the sporting programmes that were around at his youth. He had a
tradition to follow. This only came about because there were all levels
of competitions in the Gambia with great enthousiasim. "Like a big Passy
Coker vs Ngaga Choi Race". Each year there new heros Our sporting
personality were scouted from primary school competitions to the
national level. Most of the popular sporting legands I knew them from
Primary school onwards and upwards.I was not suprise to see them in the
national team.It was some thing we look forwarded to.The sporting
calender also was known to all from the agee of 10 years old.

The state of The Culture
It is very unpleasant to see the dissapearance of of intensive street
competitions, sports in school (inter house),then each school go out to
take other school with this verom and confidence activated with a
arsenal of supporters that would take to the street in hundreds. On a
sporting day ,it wias a whole day of anxiety, preparations fanfare
,costumes and jazz bands on the pavillions.
This is the magic !!!

P/S I likethe internet because a story can become a snowball. The more
input the more we all get to see the big picture slightly in a
different way.
