Sister Jabou and the rest of the Ebou Jobarteh family: I extend my heartfelt
condolences on the passing away of Ebou Jobarteh. May his soul rest in
peace.

Brother Sheikh Tijan: It saddens me to have learnt of the death of Cherno M
Baldeh, who was in fact the first editor-in-chief of the Daily Observer when
the paper was launched on May 11th, 1992, by Kenneth Y Best. Indeed, Cherno
was an intellectual giant and although Mr Best himself is well read, he told
me and Journalist Justice Fofanah (more than once) that he wished he was as
clever as Cherno. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Ebrima Ceesay
