Jambo friends,
I am looking for African bands local to the San Fransisco, Chicago, and
Washington DC areas for a promotional performance. For this project we are
looking for bands playing contemporary African music; we are not looking for
cultural groups at this time.
I am working for some clients who are looking for African bands who live in
Chicago, Georgetown, and San Francisco. This is for a appx 2hr one-time
only appearance for a clothing company that currently has a line of
African-inspired clothing out and would like to host an African music show
in each of those cities to help promote their clothing. We are looking for
bands local to those areas because there is not enough money in the budget
to pay for travel and hotel expenses. I know that there are alot of
Africans living in the US playing their music and my mission is to help
promote them. For this specific project we are looking for *young* African
bands - the clothing store's demographics are 16-26 years old, as such they
specifically requested young musicians since they will be dressed in the
store's clothing. They're not interested in bands with white folks playing
African music, but it is okay to have a few white folk in the bands. The
money isn't awesome, but they will be paying a fair rate, and will be
promoting the event heavily, as an added incentive I've made a deal with
them that the people in the bands can keep the clothing they are wearing
for the performance

you a Fed Ex or Airbourne Express # so that you can get your press kits to
me without your having to pay for postage.
If you can't be of help, perhaps you know of someone else who lives in
those cities that I might speak with for more suggestions? for both
traditional and contemporary African music. I really appreciate your help
and any suggestions. I'm working under a deadline now and would appreciate
hearing from you ASAP if you can help.
