BREAKING NEWS:HAS HIGH COMMISSIONER SEEDY SANNEH BEEN FIRED?DISTURBING REVELATIONS!!!
Unconfirmed reports suggested the sacking of Seedy Sanneh, Gambia’s High Commissioner to Senegal. Sanneh’s sacking cannot be independently confirmed, but some sources who reached the Freedom Newspaper claimed that Sanneh, refused to return to Banjul, after his firing. The same source also went on to indicate that Sanneh has been replaced by Gibril Joof, Gambian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

DIPLOMATIC SHAKE UP HITS GAMBIAN FOREIGN MISSIONS?
All is not well for our foreign Missions abroad, as government bank accounts are said to be in the read. High Commissioner Joof’s transfer to Dakar, according to this source was being hindered due to lack of funds, as the diplomat and his family are currently stranded in the UK. The Gambian Mission in France is also said to be badly affected due to the cash shortage facing our missions abroad. The government is being blamed for not giving the necessary attention these embassies deserved.
The Freedom Newspaper, learned that most of the phone lines at The Gambian Mission in France were disconnected due to lack of prompt settlement of bills. The staffers at this Mission according to sources are living from hand to mouth. That they used their private cell phones to talk to Banjul. Our findings also pointed at the same Paris embassy where a staffer in the person of one Mr. Badjie, who was thrown out by his landlord following the embassy’s failure to pay his rent. According to sources Badjie’s appointment was possible thanks to Abdoulie Kujabi, who is currently not in the good books of the government. Badjie, we gathered is said to be no longer a staffer of the Paris embassy and had since refused to return to Banjul.
Meanwhile, Tamsir Jallow a fired official at The Gambian Mission in the UK, has been reinstated. Mr. Jallow also refuses to return home after his first sacking. Despite repeated attempts by the government for Jallow to show up in Banjul, the diplomat refused citing fear of possible persecution. Jallow later took up a job with a local security firm in Britain. Local sources in the UK says Jallow’s reinstatement came as a big surprise to them as the former envoy was quoted as saying that he regretted serving Jammeh’s government. His sudden change of heart is raising eye brows amongst The Gambian community abroad. Jallow was the former Chairman of the disbanded July 22ND Movement and also majority leader of the National Assembly. The movement which Jallow onetime led was linked to domestic terrorism in the tiny West African country. The hostile pro government youths were linked to force abduction, arrest, torture, arson attacks and sometimes surveillance activities.
Meanwhile, this paper also learned that The Gambian Ambassador to the UN Crispin Grey Johnson, was in Banjul recently for consultations as the EAW half a million dollars case against The Gambian government was scheduled to resume by month end. The government we learned are increasingly worried about this high profile litigation ever brought against the Presidency by a US lobbyist.
The Freedom Newspaper also gathered that Assan Drammeh an official at The Gambian Mission in New York was recalled some couple of months ago. Drammeh is said to be in US. Our investigations also hinted that Drammeh was used as a political pawn, because he was not in speaking terms with the ambassador, who is a principal witness in the EAW case against Jammeh.
Officials at The Gambia’s Department of State for Foreign Affairs were not available for immediate comments at press time. All attempts to solicit confirmation on the alleged sacking of High Commissioner Seedy Sanneh proved futile. What is evident though is that there is a shake up within our diplomatic front.
