Fatou,
I am sure you appreciate why the names of the Gambians
involved, especially those presumed dead, are being
withheld i.e. pending the notification of next-of-kin.
The cruesome task of positive identification of bodies
recovered is in progress. The only known Gambian
survivor, whom I visited yesterday, is recovering very
well in hospital. He spoke with his parents in
Kulari-Demgunguma (near Basse)last evening from my
cell phone; his name is Hagie Camara-an African art
dealer with market stalls in both Lagos and Nairobi.

Gambian staff of the ADB have been very supportive
during these very difficult period; Lamin Manneh
(Translator)who initially contacted Hagie's parents
and Papa Sering Jallow who worked the phones have been
extremely helpful in the past two days. Likewise the
staff of the Honorory Consul General's office( in the
absence of the Consul)i.e.Cisse and Assumana have been
working over-time. The efforts of these fine
gentlemen are commendable.
