I concur with Mr. Jow, I don't think talking to oneself constitutes mental
disorder. Simple logic should indicate that that many Gambians cannot be
mentally retarded without a hint or some clue that would have alarmed
ordinary Gambians. I think the heading may be misleading as well; can you
clarify if the Point meant a 60% increase in mentally disorder cases or
that 60% of Gambians are suffering from some form of mental or behavioural
disorder? Perhaps they meant the former. Let us assume that there once
was a thousand cases of mentally disordered Gambians in the records of
Campama, a 60% increases would mean 600 new cases or a total of 1600. That
is completely different from 60 percent (about 1 million) of Gambia's
population. I have the impression when I read the heading that they meant
60% of the Gambia's population fell in this category.

Perhaps they should disclose the number of cases at hand; when they last
recorded the cases and before the recent update if any? I don't think they
have disclosed enough information to inform even a layman that their
statement is credible. No offense to anyone, this is just my observation
and personal opinion on this subject. Thanks though, Mr. Ceesay, for
forwarding the information.

Cheers
Mariatou
