I have been out with the flu and lots of work, but on trying to catch up with
what has been happening on the L, I have to agree that once again, we are
falling victim to the simple art of distraction and deception. One major point
to emphacise, and something to keep our eye on, are those whose only purpose
for joining this forum is to disrupt, and shift our focus from the task of
exposing the dictator and his allies. Seems to me we should be well aware of
such tactics by now.

Our efforts are valuable tools in exposing and eventually getting rid of Yaya
Jammeh and his cohorts , and the proof lies in the fact that we now have
"Alieu, the real Jogomai, aka lacks the courage to identify himself by his
real name Keita" on this list, and he is here because he knows that our
collective effort and voices are a force to contend with.

He is also here simply for the purpose of distracting us from the task at
hand, and his modus operandi is to send post after post filled with
nonsesical accusations and bait to pit us against each other. He tested the
waters of "reconciliation and forgiveness, and found that there was no
inclination there, so he is now on a mission to cause chaos, foster suspicion
and instigate people to loose their self restraint and start using abusive
language and loose focus.

I cannot imagine why anyone would find offense at being cautioned not to use
abusive language. We are vey much a culture that values good manners, and we
must be careful that we do not let others inspire behaviour in us that is not
only undesirable, but also ends up taking away the respetability of this
forum.
That is the purpose for people like "Keita" to make an apperance here, make
no mistake about it.

People, the Wollof have a saying that "just because someone wants to put
your share of the meal in the dog's bowl, does not mean that you have to eat
your meal out of the dog's bowl."

In order to be viewed with the respect and dignity we want to elicit both as
an effective force for positive change in our country, and well brought up ,
well mannered people, we must be careful not to have others manipulate us to
the point of loosing sight of who we are, and what we want to accomplish. It
is our responsibility to act as a group of people who are worthy of
representing our country, and that means we must behave in a respectable
manner always, regardless of external manipulations, otherwise, we display a
weakness of character that will be our undoing, especially since we are faced
with someone who employs both mental, as well as other forms of manipulation
to play a very devious game.

I know that it has been suggested that we engage "Alieu Jogomai Keita"
constructively, but how does one confront the devil and find some good in him
I ask you? I have said it before, and I will say it again, the only
redemption for "Alieu" is to confess to his crimes, and let justice prevail
in our land, and in those acts lies his demise, and therefore, it is a futile
effort to even suggest that he will engage in any sort of exchange that
towards this end.
We have had ample proof in the past that this regime is not interested in
anything other than self preservation to continue in their pillage of our
country and our people, and doing the right thing will eventually lead to
their demise, and no one knows that better than they.

We must realize that the reason that the likes of Yaya Jammeh has not only
surfaced in our midst, but managed to survive as our head of state is that
people like him study us very carefully, and focus on our weaknesses as a
people to manipulate us for their own purposes. It is high time we stopped
falling victim to such manipulative tactics or we will be forever ready
victims for devious and manipulative people.

In passing, I also want to tell "Alieu" that Colin Powell does not infact
engage in the review of asylum applications as mentioned in his response to
Ebrima Ceesay's letter to Secretary of State Powell. That is the job of
junior foreign service workers, so the statement that Ebrima Ceesay's efforts
are towards the procurement of asylum for some people is utter nonsense.

Infact, the best case for granting asylum to Gambians is made by our own
head of state. All one needs to be considered for asylum in another country
is to be in the unfortunate position of having a tyrant and human rights
abuser as a head of state in one's country. The reason that Gambians are all
over the World, and seeking asylum, becoming citizens of other nations,
working etc is a direct result of the sorry leadership and mis-management by
our leaders over the years, with the present regime being in a class of
their own in this category.

Therefore, throwing these things in the face of Gambians abroad as a weapon
is not a feather in the hat of our dictator and his administration, but
should rather be a source of great embarassment because it is a direct
measure of his ineptitude to govern, as well as his lack of recognition of
the real role of a government and it's responsibility to it's citizenry.

Let us focus on what we are doing, and if "Alieu"or any of his cohorts want
to practice the art of deception on this forum, the best thing we can do is
to just sit back and watch them make total fools of themselves which is
something that they have perfected into an art.

<< Gambia-L,

First I would say what's up with the noise? Didn't we learn our
lesson(s) from such distractions before? Why are we falling in again....it
beats me folks. Let's focus on the task...the big mess of Yaya Dirimo!
