One must be incrediblynaive to believe that Jammeh /APRC will just allow

bloodthirsty "opposition" win an "election" only to go on a witch-
hunting spree again ala post 81 coup...?

Ebou,

Winning an election is up to the people of the Gambia, and if they are
allowed to vote freely for the candidates of their choice without any game playing,
rigging of elections, intimidation and bribing of the people or importation
of non-Gambians to vote, i believe most of them will not choose to cast a vote
for Jammeh, and thier decision will be based solely on the performance of the
APRC government since coming into power.
You talked about the opposition coalition as being non-existant. Well, With
our country on the verge of economic collapse under this regime, people have
to search for a solution, and everything has a begining. A few years ago, the
APRC was non-existant and Jammeh was a soldier in the barracks with no money.
Now he is telling people that he is the only one fit to lead us and the only
entitlement to lead that he has as far as I can see is that he has at his
disposal, ,sheer brutality, outright abuse of human rights that is documented (
just check with the State Department) abuse of the law and an administration
that has led Gambia to the brink of economic collapse where there is not even
funds to do something as basic as to purchase fuel to run the water pumps or
maintain them.

At the same time, Jammeh has become a wealthy man by using his office and
Gambia's limited resources to accomplish that.

Yet, as an intelligent person which I think you are, you enjoy the rule of
law that is one of the reasons that has compelled these United States to grant
you political assylum if it is that which you have, or given you citizenship
because you have met the conditions laid down by the U.S Constitution, and
yet you vehimently support a dictator whose record and performance would not
allow you to enjoy the same liberties in your own country of birth. How does this
make sense?

As for the politics of vengenace, i do not condone it and anyone who
practices it will be subscribing to their own demise in the long run, but the fear of
retaliation that the APRC regime has should they find themselves out of power
is not just based on a simple fear of retaliation nor is it because they care
about their fellow Gambians.

It is fear based on the fact that they have broken every law in our
constitution, abused their power in every possible way, marginalized the courts and
the guardians of the laws in our country, and wrecked our economy just to name a
few, and they simply fear facing the charges that would ensue after they are
no longer in power because of the commission of these crimes. So the ywill do
and say anything to keep thm where they are, and you unfortunately are
lending a hand towards this effort.

An example of their disregard for the law while trying to tell the World they
are the best thing that ever happened to Gambia, here is something as current
as the recent ruling on the Dumo Saho case in the Gambian high court. The
APRC regime has held Dumo Saho and others without charging them for years, and
are they now not ignoring the ruling of the court that the government cannot
prove their case and therefore these men should be freed?

I think if you believe that the repression that this regime heaps on Gambians
is a good thing, you should let your professors at Georgetown know this and
please refer them to the record of the APRC regime for their consideration,
and I do hope you will consider going home to lend a hand to such a noble
administration?.
