The national youth mobiliser of the National Convention party (NCP) Mr Fafa
Fatty, has said the NCP was fully supportive of the move taken by the party
leader Sheriff Dibba by paying a courtesy call on President Jammeh to
congratulate him on his election victory.

Mr Fatty disclosed this in an exclusive interview with the Daily Observer
Thursday. He said the NCP was of the belief that this election was the most
free and fair election ever held in Gambia's political history. "That being
the case," he went on, "and the NCP being a party committed to peace,
accepted the election results and would join hands with the APRC to develop
the country.

"We even held discussions with Mr Dibba before his courtesy call at State
House and we all agreed with one voice, which is to join hands with the APRC
for the betterment of the country," noted Mr Fatty.

On whether the NCP would vote for an APRC candidate in the coming National
Assembly election, Mr Fatty answered in the positive, saying "we will all
vote for the APRC in these coming elections." He said the main reason why
they wanted to join hands with the APRC was for development and peace. He
also strongly denied allegations that Dibba's move was done in exchange for
a position in government. He also said Dibba's move was not as a result of
division within the NCP.
