I received with sock and dismay the news of the untimely demise of my sister
and friend, Satang Jobarteh, which sad event took place recently. Satang
would be remembered by all in her relentless efort in empowering women in a
predominently conservative society like the Gambia. Her crusade on gender
equality was based on the principle of leadership by example which accquired
her enomous respect both nationally and internationally.

My sincere condolences to the entire Jobarteh family in George
Town(Janjangbureh) and her uncles, the Danbelleh family, in Boraba. May Allah
WSWT grant her eternal peace.
