Private investment may have its place, but doesn't it generally make the rich investors even richer at the expense of the local workers, who become little more than wage slaves. Isn't the main complaint about the tourist industry in Gambia the poor financial return to the country.

You don't see many private investors at work for the sake of their employees or the local people in the UK, and where you do, it is very much the exception rather than the rule.

Is it different in a mainly Muslim country, where religious teachings, which are held in such high esteem and are so much more part of the fabric of society, have a more socialising influence on capitalism.
