BREAKING NEWS: MAYOR LIE CONTEH REGAINS FREEDOM-AS STATE SET HIM FREE!!!
News just came in that the former popular KMC Mayor Abdoulie Conteh has been released from custody after been held for several weeks by the state on allegations of coup plot. Mr. Conteh who regained freedom this morning, reunited with his family. Conteh was feared death during his detention, following reports that he was brutally tortured by his captives.

  FORMER MAYOR LIE CONTEH REGAINED
  FREEDOM
His release followed a front page story ran by the Freedom Newspaper yesterday in which staff reporter Karafa Badjie quoted unimpeachable sources at the state law office who hinted that Justice Minister Sheik Tijan Hydara was not satisfied with the police case file against the accused persons. Hydara was said to have ordered for the return of the case file due to lack of evidence to prove treason charge against the detainees. Consequently he asked the police to do their home better as the purported coup statement displayed on TV by Jammeh was not sufficient to convict the accused persons in a court of law. Our source went as far as saying that Lie Conteh refused to sign a cautionary and voluntary statements after been forced by the investigators. Mr. Conteh insists that he was innocent and was not privy of any coup plot against Jammeh’s government.
The release of Lie Conteh will no doubt confirmed critics claims that the government was out to witch haunt perceived opponents as there was no grain of truth into their “well conceived lies” about a coup plot. Mr. Conteh was sacked from his Mayoral post for political reasons. It is reported that the head of State was uncomfortable with the Mayor’s popularity in the Municipality. Conteh succeeded in building a solid political base during his tenure as Mayor. Besides, his popularity, the retired army major is also described in some quarters as a no non sense man.
Sources promised to update us with information about Lie’s ordeal while in custody. Conteh could not be reach for comments, but reliable source confirmed about his release.
