Awa, thanks for silencing the doubting Thomases. Yesterday when I reported
the crowds some thought that is was just partisan puffery. Well, you the
people on the ground saw what happened. BBC reported what happened. As you
said, Yaya is FINISHED. You said it ALL. The outgoing president (Yaya) was
escorted OUT of the thousands of Alliance supporters; thanks to President
Ousainou Darboe who called the IEC to provide Yaya safe passage. You are
right that Tombong was LYING when he said that Darboe was at home. On the
contrary, Darboe was busy on the phone trying to seek help for Yaya. We want
the man alive to come to court and face his crimes. APRC is FINISHED and
they know it.

Just to show you the circus we are dealing with: Nai ceesay almost got into
a fist-fight with Yankuba touray because of the story we ran on the G_L
concerning the missing D2 million which Yankuba claims was burnt together
with entire official documents in both the Local government and Tourism
Departments.  Nai believes that Yankuba is taking advantage of the situation
and the blame will fall on Nai since, according to the APRC Government, the
fire started at the local government which as you know is headed by Nai
Ceesay.

To further highlight the disarray within the APRC camp and not to be outdone
by the fracas between Nai Ceesay and Yankuba Touray, Lai Conteh (KMC
Chairman) also got into the act with Famara Jatta; again over money.  Lai
Conteh wanted Famara Jatta to provide him with public moneys for the
campaign and Famara refused. They also came to blows. What we are dealing
with here is a bunch that is corrupt, inept, sycophantic and down-right
desperate. Low-lives.

Awa, as you confirmed, the crowd that accompanied the next President of the
Republic of The Gambia has NEVER been seen before in the political history
of our beloved country which will be liberated come Thursday. I am glad to
learn about the few security men whose order to shoot the crowd was ignored
by their colleagues.  The security forces have had enough of the
bloodletting that they were ordered to do by Yaya.  They will continue to
refuse to shoot at their own brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and
friends.

I have reliably learnt that NCP stalwarts have already called it a day and
thrown in the towel and will support President Ousainou Darboe instead
because they have come to realize that their support is miniscule, at best.
Darboe's momentum is unstoppable now that entire villages are coming out
with their voters cards and surrendering it to the Alliance for
safe-keeping, just in case what is left of the 22 July thugs, after the
battering they took at the hands of unarmed women of Soma two days ago,
decide to visit them in the dead of night.

To add to Yaya's woes, the students have come out with a statement today
supporting the Alliance which only confirms what one of the BBC reporters
said on the air this morning that the youth that supported Yaya in 1996 have
abandoned him this time around. Tombong did not bother relaying that piece
to the G_L as he tried to do on Yaya's interview yesterday.

Awa, as you know, more supporters of the APRC are abandoning ship in their
thousands and more is expected between now and Thursday when Yaya's
tyranical government comes to an end.

As for Gabriel Roberts, he better do what is right.  He cannot afford to be
partisan in 2001. He cannot say that he was not warned.  He should read
carefully the message that the Senegalese Government put out yesterday and
again today that they are ordering their citizens residing in The Gambia not
to be drawn into the local politics of their host country. Abdoulaye Wade
knows that Yaya is using Senegalese to try and get over the huddle which the
Senegalese will not stand.  So Gabriel Roberts needs to heed the calls of
the Wade Government and ensure that only Gambians vote on Thursday and that
only those whose name appear on the voter registration list. Nothing less
should be acceptable to the Alliance or the other Opposition Parties.  Just
to show you how the voter registration process was a sham, the Senegalese
border patrol have thus far confiscated over 3,000 voters cards from their
nationals. Thanks to Gabriel Roberts turning a blind eye during the
registration process.  As we speak/write, the APRC is still issuing voters
cards to non-Gambians.  President Darboe has to issue instruction to his
polling agents not to allow anyone not on the list to vote. THIS IS A DO OR
DIE SITUATION. THE VOICES OF THE PEOPLE SHALL BE HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR ON
THURSDAY. Yaya is FINISHED.

Awa, I thank you the brave people on the ground for your tireless efforts.
You deserve all the credit for saying Enough is Enough to the vermin. Please
give us the 411 on the crowd that is assembling to INVADE Banjul as we
speak/write. Of course we are mindful of the fact that you might be part of
that crowd chanting for PREISDENT DARBOE and therefore will not have access
to your email.
