You are right! ML Janneh nearly snatched that seat
from Mbemba Jatta in the 1987 General Elections.
Observers believed his subsequent imprisonment in 1989
was in response to his politics with the National
Convention Party. I remember the day he was given a 5
year jail sentence by the Late Justice Solomon Njie.
As he whisked off to Mile II prison, he told his
supporters not to worry since this was just a
political ploy by the PPP regime.
Once again, my heartfelt condolences to the Janneh
Family.
