Tomaa,

Welcome Back! I hope you have not bagged more stories of higher voltage than this one about Gamtel Internet Café. I bet the not all of the luggages of Hajj pilgrims have arrived home yet?

Best regards to M and the kids.

Sidibeh

Subject: No mails since the 6th March - Greetings

Greetings Gambia-l,
I was in The Gambia the past three weeks and have not had access to my mails
since the 17th February. I attempted once at the Gamtel Internet Café at the
Westfield junction and gave up after being robbed in broad daylight by them. I
was asked to pay before using the computer and they would not return my 25
Dalasis when there was no access to the Internet. I was asked to return later
if I want to use my access but they could not return the money. It was real day
light robbery:-)

I was back last night but my mail box had exceeded the allocated space and
mails had been bouncing back since march 6th. I already have over 900 un-read
mails and will gradually reply to those of you who sent me private mails.

Life is extremely difficult in the Gambia because prices are increasing daily
according to the dollar rate of the day. Salaries are not increasing for those
lucky ones to have employment. For example petrol costs 20 Dalasis and Diesel
15 Dalasis two days ago. This increase will reflect on the transport fares. A
cup of sugar is now 3 dalasis and 135 Dalasis for cement in the kombos two days
ago.

More observations to come whenever I have time.

Momodou Camara
