Jabou,

In times like these, one needs to play down, at least in public fora like
the L, the atrocities, lest it further aggravate an already explosive
situation. Niger this morning claimed two of its nations were killed.
Burkina Faso claims a much higher figure. I am sure there are others. I
keep saying that the Gambian community is fine because I am referring to
those working for international organisations in CI. However, we must
remember that there is a sizeable Gambian community in Treicheville and
surrounding areas of Abidjan and in the Bouake, Man and Khorogho areas of
which we are not sure if they are all safe. Thus far, I have yet to receive
information about the death of a single Gambian or Senegalese although this

cannot be completely ruled out due to the nature of the conflict. Let us
continue to pray for all caught up in the conflict. I am off to Cotonou for
a week on mission. I hope to return to a calmer and more peaceful Cote
d'Ivoire.

Sidi Sanneh
