We are not dummies. You love to create false stories and polemics on your
online "tabloid" to attract attention. Who is Lamarana? It is none other
than Pa Nderry and Essa Sey. They are Lamarana. Essa provides the shit and
Pa Nderry publishes it. Any proof? Well it is evident! Essa is the only one
in the freedom newspaper management to have extensive knowledge of what
happened during the period Lamarana mentioned. Particularly among the
military. Pa Nderry is the only one who writes such bad english as Lamarana
does. The hallmark is apparent in Lamarana's and Pa Nderry's english
language. It is stupid to claim that the freedom newspaper publishes EVERY
opinion expressed and yet most of what is written to them, particulalry to
protest against certain irresponsible journalism on their side, is never
published.
Worst, freedom newspaper fell in a trap they set for themselves in the Modou
Thomas case. They earlier promised to publish the letter from Thomas little
supecting what the contends would be. I am sure they had the shock of their
lives when Thomas wrote that strong piece expressing his distatse for the
cheap and irresponsible journalism the freedom newspaper is known for. What
a laugh I had when the editor started to douse the letter by accusing others
for the piece they published. If they were avoiding falling in the trap they
claim was set for them by those working for Yahya Jammeh, then what they
never noticed was that they were smeared to the hilt with dirt and really
fell for it. Whoever gave them the false information must be laughing
his/her heart off (if the claim is true). This shows the irresponsible
journalism they enjoy practicing and the love of publishing sensational
news.
Dont worry Pa Nderry, I will still read your gabbage. However, I have learnt
to seperate the chaff from the grain even though where one finds a kilo of
grain, there would have been a tonne of chaff.

Developing Story:Momodou Thomas Clarifies-He says he was never arrested!

On friday the 25th of may,i received several phone calls on my cell phone
from friends,well wishers and family members both home and overseas
informing me of a story published on the freedom newspaper by its editor PA
NDERRY MBYE,after reading the said story regarding me being arrested in the
GAMBIA,i called the papers editor PA NDERRY to clarify the false story he
wrote on his paper.

Although i must admit that i was more than angry when i saw the story and
wanted to let go the whole issue but also thought it necessary to issue a
response  for the sake of my   friends,colleagues ,family members and the
public at large.

For the record,i MODOU THOMAS was never arrested,neither did i got into any
problem or even came close to being arrested through out my two weeks visit
to my motherland.Am not going to talk about this anymore and if i should
ever be made a FALSE  headline news by PA NDERRY AND HIS PAPER,things will
be different period!!.Journalism is about TRUTH,HONESTY AND CONSTRUCTIVE
reporting and not DESTRUCTIVE news.

In conclusion,i wish to express my profound thanks to  all those who were
very much concern when the false and untrue story about me being arrested
was publish.Thanks to all my colleagues  who  called me and all well
wishers.LONG  LIVE TRUE JOURNALISM AND CONSTRUCTIVE REPORTING.

Editors note:We thank Mr.Thomas for setting the records straight.After all,
we are interested about the truth and nothing but the truth. His reaction
has ended  the sea of speculations and counter speculations about his
alleged arrest. From the word go, we never confirmed that he was arrested.
Thomas story will serve as an eye opener for us at Freedom. It's unGambian
for one to wish such bad things to his fellow countryman. We are pleased to
note that the caller's objective has been defeated with Thomas setting the
records straight.

As a rountine policy, this paper is not in the business of smearing of
people's images. Our credibitly matters to us and shall not compromise it,
no matter what. We want to make it loud and clear that The Freedom Newspaper
harbours no grudges against Momodou Thomas. This paper's Editor had good
professional relationship with Thomas. On numerous occasions, Thomas had
picked up his phone inviting Mr.M'Bai for a dinner at his house. We cannot
turn around and hate such a brother.It makes no sense!! Jammeh's devils in
Raleigh should stop it before it's too late. Let them continue to try us and
see.

Mr.Thomas was matured enough to avoid being over carried by his emotions as
clearly stated in his terse reaction. We at the Freedom Newspaper
appreciates his honest observations and shall continue to do our job with
high degree of professionalism. We have nothing to gain by reporting that he
was arrested in the Gambia. We thank you for your attention.Chi Jaama.
