Well folks, Gambians have spoken. In a democracy, one is free to even vote
against their interest, not that we have a democracy. The voters bought
into the myth that a Rubberstamp Assembly is what they need so it will be.
Gambians cannot continue to hide behind intimidation and other excuses as to
the way they vote. None puts a knife to their throat to vote the way they
did or to abstain. The government you elect is the government you deserve.
The opposition winning six seats thus far is testament that communities vote
the way they want and for what ever reason. They will have to live with
their choice.

On the other hand the results just like the Presidential elections are not a
surprise. The opposition was advised to contest this election tactically to
increase their representation, but alas. The same one party (UDP) seem to
put Gambians that yearn for liberation in more despair. Again, they
deferred our dream for short sightedness and selfishness. They did not mind
for their selfishness to consume them either. What do the opposition have
to show for - six seats. Yes, Halifa lost his seat to their desire, but we
knew they did not mind that even though they knew they could not win. Where
Hamat and kemeseng could have gained more with a tactical support, they
lost. The UDP should be happy, for they are the minority leaders in the
Assembly, Boooo Hoooo! What will that stop? Nothing. Surely it will earn
those reps a paycheck. Five more years for what ever and the last thing I
want to hear from voters is complains, which is our second nature. A
combination of shallowness on the part of a section of the opposition and
"development bait" for the voter helped render this verdict. Like 2001, we
are running on the spot for lack of vision by those that want to lead us.
Gambians, it's now time to live your choice.

Chi Jaama

Joe
