Mr. Joof!

How sad to learn of the demise of my good friend and colleague Mr. Faye. My 
late reaction to this sad news is as a result of not having checked my mail 
for the past week or so. My deepest sympathy to his family, relatives, and 
friends.

I came to know Mr. Faye during my period with NARI, as Research Planner 
(1994-2000). As a Soil Scientist myself, it was always exciting to meet John 
at seminars and workshops where we would exchange ideas of common interest. 
The last thing I remembered of John was when he coordinated the long-tern 
Lowlands Agricultural Development Project (LADEP) funded by IFAD, a position 
he handled with zeal. He'll surely be missed by virtually everyone in the 
agricultural sector in the Gambia and indeed in the West African Sub-region. 
May his Soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.
