FROM THE MIMBAR OF HOLY HARAM IN

MAKKAH AND MADINA

(Friday, March 2, 2001)

PRESERVE SANCTITY AND SECURITY OF MAKKAH, MUSLIMS URGED

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sidais, Imam and Khateeb of the Holy Mosques in Makkah urged Muslims to fear Allah and thank Him for His bounty on them.

IN MAKKAH

In his Friday Sermon at the Holy Mosque on Friday (March 2, 2001), Sheikh Al-Sedais said that throughout history, the Ka'aba remained a towering monument though the civilization and countries collapsed and vanished.

He said that by the Will of Allah, Makkah remained a symbol of faith, a source for Dawah "call", a center for fraternity and a land from where the greatest Islamic civilization spread all over the world and changed the course of history.

Sheikh Al-Sedais said that it is the duty of all Muslims, particularly of the pilgrims and the Umrah performers, to observe the sanctity of Makkah, preserve its security and order and not to incline to evil actions there in or practice any sort of polytheism.

He said that Hajj is a great occasion where significant benefits are realized in this world and in the Hereafter so that the people of belief are motivated, as Allah said that those who perform the Hajj rituals in the best manner have no reward but Paradise.

Sheikh Al-Sidais called Muslims to avail themselves of this great season and worked seriously to get out of their current ordeals.

"Is it not time for all of us as Muslims to take from this great Islamic congregation the lesson in unity and solidarity and keep off from dissention and conflicts?" asked Sheikh Al-Sedais, who added that this congregation groups Muslims in one place however remote their countries may be.

He called for the Muslims countries to coordinate their plans and unify their work programs for whatever may be in the interest of Islam and Muslims.

He said that the Islamic countries have a great duty in enlightening their pilgrims on the Sharia'h, security and cultural matters and warn them from whatever may spoil the image of Hajj.

IN MADINA

Meanwhile, the Imam and Khateeb of the Prophet's Mosque in Madina Sheikh Ali Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Huzaifi urged Muslims to fear Allah and grasp the trustworthiest handhold that will never break. He told Muslims in his Friday Sermon that the Blessing of Allah can only be attained by following His guidance and abstaining from what He has prohibited.

The Imam advised Muslims to redouble their worship to Allah and their good deeds, particularly during the first 10 days of Dul Hijjah, and that those who do not go to Hajj should fast on Arafat Day.

Sheikh Al-Huzaifi hoped that the pilgrims may perform their rituals in the best manner and return home safely.

The Holy Qur'an says:

Surah Al-Hujurat,Ayah 6,11 12&13.

6.O you who believe!if a Fasiq(liar-evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it,lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done.

11 O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (Indeed) doing wrong.

12 O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: and spy not on each other nor speak ill of each other behind their backs(backbiting).Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay ye would abhor it...but fear Allah: for Allah is Oft-Returning Most Merciful.

13.O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another.Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer)who has At-taqwa{i.e.he is one of the Muttaqun, the pious and righteous person who fear Allah much abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden}.Verily,Allah is All-knowing,All-Aware.

Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Sayings:(Hadith)

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Beware of suspicion. Suspicion is the most untrue speech. Do not spy and do not eavesdrop. Do not compete with each other and do not envy each other and do not hate each other and do not shun each other. Be slaves of Allah, brothers." (Al-Muwatta Hadith)

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (Radhi Allahu Anho) Allah's Apostle said, 'Beware of suspicion, for it is the worst of false tales and don't look for the other's faults and don't spy and don't hate each other, and don't desert (cut your relations with) one another. O Allah's slaves, be brothers!" (Sahih Al Bukhari)

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (Radhi Alllhu Anho) The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi wa sallam) said, "Beware of suspicion (about others), as suspicion is the falsest talk, and do not spy upon each other, and do not listen to the evil talk of the people about others' affairs, and do not have enmity with one another, but be brothers. And none should ask for the hand of a girl who is already engaged to his (Muslim) brother, but one should wait till the first suitor marries her or leaves her."(Sahih Al Bukhari)

DU'A (Invocations)

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal hammiwal hazani, wa minal 'ajzi wal kasali wa minal jubni wal buhli, wa minal ma'thami, wal maghrami wa min ghalabatid daini wa qahrir rijaali.

O Allah! I seek refuge with You against worry, sorrow helplessness, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, sin and debt, and the burden of indebtedness and over powering of men.

Allahummaghfirli jiddi wa hazli,wa khatta'I wa 'amdi, wa kullu dhalika 'indi.

O Allah! Forgive my sins and bad wills, seriousness and jokes lapses and all that with me.

Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal 'aafyata fiddunya wa aakhirah.

O Allah! I seek from You forgiveness and security in both this world and Hereafter.
