Subject: Women's Human Rights Action

Attention Amnesty Members:

Amnesty International is pushing for the Senate to ratify the Convention on
the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)--a treaty
that
must pass the Senate by a 2/3rds vote. Even though many Senators support
the
treaty, it is held up in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Late last
year
Senator Barbara Boxer introduced a new bill in the Senate--Senate Resolution
237--calling on the Foreign Relations Committee to hold hearings and urging
action on CEDAW before International Women's Day--March 8th, 2000.

We need your help! We need you to ask your Senators to cosponsor (support)
S.
Res. 237 and to hold hearings on CEDAW!

Please tell us you'll help out by emailing: [log in to unmask] We will
send
you the information you need to urge your Senators to support the new CEDAW
resolution. Thanks for your human rights work.

Sincerely,

Jessica Taverna
