Kats

Thanks for the info. From my calculation, within 5 days
we have posted over 80 emails on this Chongan issue
and it appears no side is winning the debate and the
only way forward is for us to close this debate sine
dine.

By the way, what's wrong with Saul Khan, It is quite
unusual not to see his contribution on issues like
these. Is he okay?

Have a wonderful morning

Sanusi

<DIV>we have wasted too much time on this Chongan
issue, so excuse me for contributing to the mess
again. This will be my last posting on the issue. Here
is how I see the matter:</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>(1) Chongan's alleged abuses pale in comparison
to the atrocities being committed by the present
wielders of power</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>(2) Regardless of the degree of abuse, we must be
willing to uncover all those who violated fundamental
human rights during both the Jawara and Jammeh
regimes. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>(3) It doesn't serve us well to now pretend that
Jawara's rule was anything but ineffective and
corrupt. By the same token, the Jammeh dictatorship
must be observing the bickering on Gambia-l with sighs
of relief since it draws attention away from its
repression.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>(4) Allegations of human rights violations should
be based on fact, even though a court of law would be
the best venue to iron out the accusations. This way
we won't tarnish anyone's image and reputation
unnecessarily. On the other hand, we shouldn't gloss
over any one's alleged wrongdoing.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Well, I 'm moving on! </DIV>
