<<JAMMEH’S ECOWAS AWARD PROMOTER DISOWNED

According to The Point newspaper, the promoter of the so-called Ecowas
Award of the Century said to be awarded to President Jammeh, has turned out
to be a hustler.

The Promoter of the prize, Mr Kuadio Konan Fredrik, failed the test of the
truth when the paper he claimed to work for, "Le Jour" in cote d’ivoire
toally disowned him. Diegou Bailly, the director of the Le Jour says that
he does not know the man who he emphasised cannot speak on behalf of Le
Jour.

When Fredrik faxed his message announcing the Award to President Jammeh, he
came to the offices of the paper, and was questioned on the inconsistencies
surrounding the whole thing. He told the Point that he worked for Le jour
newspaper which is owned by a friend (Degou Bailly) to Gambia’ s The Point
newspaper.

He was asked why the document announcing such an award didn’t emanate from
the headquarters of the organisation instead of the telecenter he used. In
fact, Fredrik’s organisation has two headquarters; one in Cote d’ivoire and
the other in France (Why?).

According to his letter, the one in France is the main one, a situation
that disturbs for an organisation meant to deal with the affairs of young
Ecowas journalists!

When asked about the so-called organisation of young Ecowas journalists,
which he claimed initiated the prize, he claimed it was not an organisation
per ser but a small entity. Asked whether he was familiar with WAJA or UJAO
(in French), and if he knew that WAJA has observer status with Ecowas, he
responded in the negative.

Throughout Saturday, colleagues contacted by the paper in Cote d’ivoire
claimed that they do not know Kuadiou Konan Fredrik nor Africa Star. Digou
Bailly of "Le Jour " expressed surprised and warned people that no one had
been mandated to enter into any deal in The Gambia on behalf of his paper.>>
