On behalf United Gambia Organization of Atlanta (UGOA), and the Atlanta
Gambian community, we appreciated and thanked everybody that attended
the symposium. A special thank you to our speakers, Dr.Abdoulaye Saine,
Momodou L Sanneh and Lamin Waa Juwara. Their appearance and presentation
brought about our first successful conference, and have convinced the
whole Atlanta community that symposiums indeed can be successful.

From an organizer’s perspective, the success has reinvigorated our
enthusiasm, and conferences will become a major part of future July
Fourths. For Conference 2002, the general objective and challenge for us
was to put together a conference where Gambians of all opinions can sit
down and discuss the issues of the day. In addition, the climate and the
temperament of the discussion to be done in a constructive manner. We
were also interested in inviting leaders from diverse political opinion,
and exciting enough to attract many Gambians. UGOA, as a community
organization comprised of people from different political parties,
therefore we are not interested in promoting any political party or
platform. Nevertheless, we are committed to make symposium and
conferences an annual event in Atlanta. We are going to work very hard
to reach out to political, civic and religious leaders for future
conferences.

Again, this success, in both substance and turnout has given us the
enthusiasm and the drive to start planning for July Fourth 2003, and
your suggestions and comments are welcome. The organizing of such an
event was precipitated by successes with the Gamnbia-L, the Mighty Post,
and the commitment of subscribers to the issues and challenges facing
our country; therefore thumbs up to Mighty Post, Gambia-L and all their
subscribers.

In conclusion, we have the videotape of the conference in its entirety
on sale, and we are urging everybody to purchase a copy from UGOA.
Revenue generated from fund raising activities like this will be used to
finance the next big conference. You can send me e-mail, or call me at
404-824-0219 if you want a copy of the conference videotape. Within the
United States, a copy of the tape with shipping and hadling will cost
$15.00, and outside of the states, it will cost $20.00 with shipping and
handling included.

You can send the cash or check payable to UGOA
