EDITORIAL JAMMEH'S MULTI MILLION DALASIS HOUSES DISCOVERED IN GUINEA CONAKRY AND MORROCO December 9, 2005
The Gambia is no doubt in wrong hands. President Yahya Jammeh, is mortgaging our country day by day. He had succeeded in securing properties outside The Gambian jurisdiction. We have been reliably informed about the multi million dalasis houses owned by Jammeh in Guinea Conakry and Morocco. We challenge Jammeh and his cronies to dispute the said findings we are privy of.

We are made to understand that one of the houses was built at the late Mr.Suma's home town in Guinea. The late Suma, was the father of Gambia's first lady Zeinab Suma Jammeh. State House sources confirmed the President's properties in Guinea Conakry and Morocco.

We are concerned about the way Jammeh is running our country. This is a man who accuses deposed President Jawara of "wanton corruption and nepotism." But today he had championed himself as Africa's most corrupt leader. None of Jammeh's parents were born rich. But today, he is owning two private jets, local companies within and outside The Gambia and private properties. One of his jets is currently frozen by the United Nations for alleged armed trafficking and blood diamond sale. We received damaging reports about the said jet and the number of diamonds sold during the period in question. We will get to that later in our next publications.

We are challenging President Jammeh to tell us where he got the funds to finance his Moroccan and Guinean homes. We do know that his salary cannot earn him such properties. We will not hesitate to conclude that such funds were stolen from our national coffers, which he Jammeh perceived as his personal property.

One thing Jammeh fails to understand is that, he will be held accountable one day for his deeds. There is no way that Gambians will pardon Jammeh, as he had committed untold sufferings and economic crimes against the poverty stricken West African country. As a matter of fact, Jammeh should start declaring his ill gotten wealth before it is too late.

We have credible information about the said Jammeh's properties. We have no intention of tarnishing the image of the Presidency. We are just being patriotic and would not watch by allowing Yahya Jammeh ruining our dear mother land. The funds spent by Jammeh to finance the said overseas properties could have been used to salvage our sinking economy.

This paper had been in touch with Guineans and Moroccans who confirmed to us about Jammeh's properties in their respective countries. This is not the first time that Jammeh had been trying to impress his in-laws. First Lady Tutu Faal's story is a classical case. Jammeh who never dreamt of marrying Tutu Faal, because of his poverty back ground decided to construct a first class road for the former first lady. Jammeh did not stop at that, he also ordered the then MD of GAMTEL Bakary Njie, to install telephone lines in Kembujay, the home village of Tutu Faal. Jammeh also asked NAWEC, the country's energy and water supply company to provide uninterrupted water and electricity supply for the family of the then first lady. The same Jammeh is today trying to impress his in-laws in Guinea and Morocco.

We are not convinced that President Jammeh is out to serve the interest of The Gambia, as he always claimed. What is happening today is a clear robbery. Zeinab Jammeh and her family should bear in mind that Jammeh doesn't own the monies he is spending on them. These are tax payers money he is abusing.

One thing is evident though, such properties can be recovered by any future government. There was no justification for the July 22ND coup. The factors he Jammeh used to justify the coup, are being repeated today. We can comfortably say that Jammeh is the continent's worst leader. He lacks sense of vision and patriotism. It is an understatement for one to call him a despot. The continent had never born such an iron hand dictator. He killed and jailed those who disagreed with his government.

This paper was also informed by an insider at the state house that a prominent Gambian businessman assisted Jammeh in ordering some of the household items to furnish his overseas properties. We will refrain from naming the said business executive at this hour, but will certainly spill the beans once we are done with phase two of our investigations. We will name companies and individuals contracted to work at Jammeh's Guinean and Moroccan houses.

As we told you the other day, your life is not a secret to us. The people you eat and drink with, are the same people keeping us posted about your dubious deals. Please take note that, the same people will testify against you, once your government is declared history. Some have fallen out with you, while others are still serving you at the state house in Banjul. Our loyal sources cannot be traced by Jammeh and his allies. And we will continue to protect such sources, who are working day and night to help us expose the Jammeh dictatorship.

We will never shut our doors at people who have stories to tell about Jammeh and his "mafia" group. It is our firm belief that such people should be accepted by the media and society as a whole. By listening to them, we will be able to distinguish the chaff and the wing-in that I mean we able to establish the truth about some of their accounts about Jammeh. In the emerging new Gambia, our country men and women should be ready to serve as listeners and not otherwise.

We wonder if Jammeh is thinking about his life after serving as a President. Whether you like it or not, your government will come to an end one day. The rights of Gambians including my very self, you abused will certainly hunt you after leaving that high office. Gambians cannot forget the atrocities committed by Jammeh. We will ensure that the crimes you committed against our peaceful citizens will be pursued no matter where you settled on this universe.

It is time for Gambians to reclaim our country. Jammeh is a thief and will end up mortgaging our country, if not stopped. We should break the culture of silence and engage the dictatorship. 2006 is a crucial year in our country's political history. It is a golden opportunity for Gambians to effect democratic change. Despite Jammeh's bully tactics, Gambians are yearning for change and the wind of change cannot be stopped by Jammeh and his killers. Come what may, change is inevitable. Jammeh is facing a test of time and he will woefully failed as a despot. We should continue to demystify him. Our final word is that "surrender your Moroccan and Guinean homes before it is too late." These mansions you are building belong to Gambians and we will soon recover them. We hope First lady Zeinab Jammeh, will pass this message to her parents. Jammeh is not a clean leader and his days are numbered. We rest our case.
