This is great opportunity to discover the world of GIS. Not only do you
spend sometime in Redlands Ca (the Mecca of GIS), you get to attend the
Society of Conservation GIS annual meeting and ERSI Annual User
Conference in San Diego. Please pass the word on to folks back home.

Greetings all,
I have put the new 2002 SCGIS scholarship program announcement on the
www.scgis.org website. Follow the link to scholarships and training. I would
appreciate it if all members would be sure to spread the word about the
program to those who might benefit and who might be interested in attending
(especially internationally). I am also looking for 4 student interns to
help out this year. We will be having our first week of GIS training at the
Northern Arizona University. The second week will at the University of
Redlands, then the conferences and then one final week at ESRI in Redlands.
Don't forget that we also have a domestic scholarship program which utilizes
the same application form. If you are in need or know someone who would
benefit from this program please be sure to pass along the information. We
are looking to expand this program this year.
We had a truly wonderful and very successful international scholarship
program last year and each year are bringing more and more people to the US
for GIS training. I think we get at least as much out of the scholars being
with us as they do. Let's make this year even better.
Finally, several folks have sent me good connnections for posting our
announcement. If you can think of anywhere else I should post it please
email me and let me know.
I will be looking for about 15 volunteers who I would like to have in place
by the beginning to middle of January, to act as reviewers for the
application process. Reviews take place in the beginning of February. Last
year's reviewers were great and the review process went very smoothly due to
their efforts.
Thanks for everyone's help and I look forward to a great 2002 scholarship
cycle.
