He has a passionate interest in sustainable development issues, particularly in the developing world, and is very willing to share his knowledge and interest during discussions. As a mature student he brought with him a number of important transferable skills which, with support and guidance, he developed to a higher level of competence. He communicated well both in writing and through verbal presentations and demonstrated an appropriate level of information technology and communication skills. His background and maturity allowed him to relate easily with his colleagues and with staff, amongst whom his interpersonal skills were much appreciated. Abdou demonstrated some leadership skills during small group working and role play exercises, but was also willing to take advice and to follow guidance.

> Since early in his studies Abdou expressed interest in studying for a higher degree and I am pleased to be able to support his application for this postgraduate course.
